Harriet Quimby

Dedication Ceremony May 25, 2000

Onekama Students have been busy learning about Harriet Quimby. We have quite a few copies of the two books by Ed Hall in the library. We also checked the web site http://www.HarrietQuimby.org/ and read one or more articles.

http://www.onekama.k12.mi.us/quimby/harriet1.htm papers and photographs collected by Mrs. Bonnie Hughes in her quest to prove that Harriet spent her childhood years in our area. We appreciate all her work. Looking at these primary source documents gives us a sense of history.

Here's a good link to try: http://www.pbs.org/kcet/chasingthesun/index.html

Our Sixth Graders have written biographs of Harriet Quimby:

Cody Brandt made a Harriet Quimby Cancellation Stamp for the May 25 dedication at Arcadia. See it here.

The fifth graders presented their Quimby HyperStudio projects to the first graders. They did a great job. All the fifth graders enjoyed showing what they had done. They felt the first graders learned from the experience.

The fifth grader Harriet Quimby display was shown in the Onekama Media Center.
